Fall 2012 Global Education News

I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth, I’m just on the other side of it.  As I have talked and written about for years, in order to fully immerse, you have to fully leave. Trying to keep up with usual blog posts and happenings in other places limits my capacity to soak in South America.  I will share the adventures and lessons upon my return to the US in January 2013. I will be available for workshops and presentations starting in Februrary.  If you want to follow our family sabbatical year,  go towww.GoGiveLearn.com

However, I do want to share news about global education happening this Fall.

El Nomad:    Over the past few months I have had the pleasure of working with Rebecca and Arturo Garate, directors of El Nomad. Based in Cuenca, this organization facilitates full immersion experiences in Ecuador including: home stays, accredited Spanish language courses, professional internships, volunteer opportunities, and customized group programs. I have been very impressed with the programs they offer, and more importantly, with Rebecca and Arturo. They are a bilingual, cross-cultural team with profound understanding of global citizenship. They cater their programs to the needs and requirements of the individuals and groups that they host. Learn more about El Nomad on the website: www.elnomad.com.

Arturo is traveling to North Carolina in September to meet with global educators/administrators. He will be in the triangle area, Asheville, and Charlotte. If you have any interest in meeting with him to hear more about El Nomad’s programs, please email:Rebecca@elnomad.com

Melibee Global Consulting:  I am continually amazed at what an incredible resource Missy Gluckmann is for the field of global education. Visit her website and be informed! http://melibeeglobal.com.  Now offering several webinars in the field of global education, here’s the direct link for those. http://melibeeglobal.com/melibeeu/

Free Online Global Education Conference:  Mark you calendars for International Education Week (November 12-16). The Global Education Conference is a network of over 10,000 educators all over the world, collaborating to better prepare 21st century global citizens.  www.globaleducationconference.com  Join the network, facilitate a session, or at least attend the sessions that best meet your needs and interests. It’s free!

Muchas Gracias!
