Water, Precious Water!

One half of the world’s population struggles with water problems; drought, unclean water, distant water sources and many water-born diseases. Nearly one billion people lack access to safe water and 2.5 billion do not have improved sanitation. These problems are being addressed on a global scale, slowly by slowly.

What can we do to help?

Firstly, those of us with an abundance of clean water can appreciate that abundance and be more cognizant of conservation. I sometimes catch myself being wasteful – it’s easy to do. Secondly, we can seek out the organizations who are focussing on water and find ways to support them. Friends of ours recently made a trip to Guatemala to drill a well with Living Water International. They had a wonderful and meaningful expereince and drilled the well that our church had raised money for last Christmas. Living Water International is but one of hundreds of organizations addressing water problems. Research and find the organization that best fits your areas of interest.
